Generic AI averages the internet. A model that knows a little about everything and is a true expert in nothing — right about everything except the part you actually know. It hallucinates with confidence. It pulls every specific question back to the average answer, because it has no principles to anchor its thinking and no body of knowledge it can call its own. Useful for general tasks. Useless for tasks that require specific perspective, hard-won taste, or earned judgment.

MindOS is building the opposite. A Mind on the platform isn’t a chatbot trained on web scrape. It’s the working method of one expert — their books, their case files, their decisions, the distinctions they enforce in their own practice — in their voice, with citations back to their own work.

Domain experts whose judgment people pay for — through a course, a newsletter, an advisory practice — have always been bottlenecked by their own time. They can advise so many clients in a year, sit with so many subscribers, hold so many office hours. MindOS removes that constraint without diluting the work. A Mind answers the rest.

How this started

For two years before MindOS existed, I worked closely with one expert running a custom GPT for paying subscribers. The product worked — they paid, kept paying, got real value — but no platform on the market was built for what we were trying to do. The experience lived inside ChatGPT’s UI. The brand on the page was OpenAI’s, not his. What controls existed were thin. A system prompt was a short lever; file uploads fed into a black box you couldn’t tune or audit. Whatever the subscribers actually asked for sat outside what the underlying platform was built to do.

MindOS is the platform that should exist underneath that experience. A Studio that interviews the expert and captures their method, not just their answers. A library that holds the expert’s body of work as first-class structured data. A runtime that orchestrates the Mind, its library, and the tools at its disposal — and grounds every claim in a citation back to the source. Per-subscriber isolation so the Mind serves a thousand subscribers without ever mixing their state.
